Waynesboro Area School District Activities

The Waynesboro Area Communities That Care, Inc. (CTC) together with the Waynesboro Area School District (WASD) are working together to help eliminate problem behaviors among its students by collaborating with the local community to incorporate prevention planning into the school district’s plans.

The Waynesboro Area School District (WASD) drug and alcohol prevention programs coordinates education programs in the schools and in our community to educate our children on the dangers of tobacco, alcohol and drugs. The Waynesboro Area School District is working with three highly recommended programs:

1) Too Good For Drugs - in the classrooms
2) Guiding Good Choices - in the community
3) STARS for Families - a middle school alcohol awareness program

The Waynesboro Area Communities that Care, Inc. (CTC) have implemented the following programs for the School Distict’s elementary students:

  • ADVENTURE CLUB - This program is an after school program for at risk elementary students.
  • PARENTS THAT CARE-GUIDING GOOD CHOICES - This program is a proven-effective drug prevention program that gives parents the skills they need to ensure the future well-being of their children.
  • GUIDING YOUR CHILD THROUGH ADOLESCENCE - This workbook is given to the parents of all fifth grade students in the Waynesboro Area School District.
  • CHILD IDENTIFICATION PROGRAM - This program is a community service initiative providing parents and guardians with a tool they can use to help protect their children.
